POST-MORTEM EXAMINATION ON THE OUTGOING GOVERNMENT

To Abba Moro –Minister of Interior and the like, who in recent past inflicted pains in the heart of many families and those in other cabinets who out of negligence, indolence or simply put incompetence brought untoward hardship on the common man; there’s nothing left to say but goodbye… However, history will not be kind to your names!

Seems like yesterday; It is amazing how fast time flies by and you don’t even realize it. Maybe, time flies when you’re suffering too –contrary to the usual saying.

“… together we shall re-create a great nation welded in unity and harmony; a nation marching towards collective progress in which no one is left behind” –whether everyone is on board as the ship reaches a prosperous haven is a question for the growing number of jobless youths who lately have developed an obsession in what is now called “trekking career”, a new found love in road-walk as others might want to call it.

It’s easy to recognise that this absurdity is born out of lingering idleness and joblessness. Well, should my submission not be the case; then the rationale is not likely something I can comprehend.

 I mean how should one explain why in 21^st century a creature of human descent i.e. a man would one morning wake up, brush his teeth `on the assumption that’ he remembers and decides to embark on a dangerous journey on foot or leg-gedes benz as we used to say in time past –walking hundreds of miles as he traverses across the country without incentives nor cogent reasons.

 It is evident that the level of unemployment and current state is unsustainable or else things may get out of hand.

On the other hand –is it safe to say “having been left behind” people have chosen to take destiny into their hands as they chart their ways to the centre; a promise land as it were… Please use that for comic relief.

It’s with sober attitude I remember the departed, compatriots who with excitement and joy witnessed the inauguration of outgoing government on May 29, 2011 but sadly paid the supreme price for gross misconduct, incompetence and cluelessness at the helm of affairs. We thought our prayers were answered owing to the emergence of a cerebral as it seems, C-in-C with, no offense, so-called ‘doctoral degree’. It was indeed a breath of fresh air until reality hits us right in the face.

It’s sad that many lost their lives in a manner that is pathetic and many faced untimely and totally unnecessary death.

As the present government go extinct with their moronic style of governance; we’ll remember, not with joy but sore heart, those in the presidency who contributed to the gargantuan bloodshed our dear country ever witnessed following the civil war. It’s indeed a difficult time in our nation’s history!

Recruitment scam

The head, ministry of interior –Abba Moro should, assuming he plans to have one, remember to write in his memoir how he chaired a recruitment scandal that sent 16 of our vibrant youth to early grave and leaving permanent scares on many as a result of fatal injuries. He should further explain how he exploited the desperation and vulnerability of our jobless graduates to enrich his pocket and that of his cronies.

During the course of this political dispensation –I am not sure anything substantial comes out of this ministry, any major reforms or landmark achievements –if there’re any, such information is not available to me.

I know many institutional facilities under his watch are in sorry state; our prisons are near comatose leading to spate in jailbreaks as recorded lately.

Big money behind war/terrorism

I have no doubt in my mind concerning the veracity of secret story `silently’ making the round neither would I discard the genuineness of the ‘supposed` private investigation.

We understand certain elements in ministry of defence –ex service chiefs and present “as alleged” adopted US Military-industrial complex (MIC), a concept where terrorism must be sustained in other to juxtapose an over bloated defence budget on counter-terrorism measures. How it plays out in the US and revelations behind closed doors is a story for another day.

The MIC is an iron-triangle, very discrete at each end. It is collaboration between commanding characters in the Military and some individuals in National assembly who ensure safe-landing of defence budget in the chambers and a third party identified as lobbyists. The interest of the lobbyists is simple –seeking contract of arms supply.

It was not by error that an Australian negotiator named an ex-service chief [name withheld] with others as sponsors of Boko Haram and there were couple articles written in the past where some lawmakers were implicated as sympathizers of Boko Haram.

Dana crash

Remember? That devastating crash that sent over 150 persons to great beyond because somebody somewhere failed to put her house in order –ensuring all departments in the aviation industry are effective and efficient.

A 23 year old overused, abandoned and disposed aeroplane had no business flying within our air space if someone had done the needful.

But sadly the ill-fated aircraft retired with innocent souls on board –people from all walks of life including a family perished on impact. The crash was unfortunate but definitely avoidable.

Occupy Nigeria

We remember Muyideen Mustafa and 15 others who, with their lives, paid the cost of government irresponsibility and recklessness.

The shortcomings in the ministry of petroleum couldn’t be more evident. The state of the nation today speaks for itself.

Sinking Economy?

World economy managers at work… They were wise enough to foresee –from world’s most populous black nation [Nigeria] –a potential threat to the “order” wherefore the need to ensure a trained scholar of theirs takes over the wheel was nonnegotiable. That explains the global hype that predates the candidacy of current handler of our economy.

And having sustained the status quo, she was recently honoured for a job well done.

Many like me who understand global politics and intrigues are certainly not surprised –whilst others would simply whisk away and call it what it is, conspiracy theory… right?

It will however be on record that almost one tenth of a quadrillion naira was mismanaged by the outgoing government. I don’t need to bore you with details –break downs are there in the open.

Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment

Lol, sorry I couldn’t hold it back. They say “action speaks louder than voice”… it appears the reverse was the case with our eloquent minister. His voice across media houses were very loud than real actions therein and his scorecard was only a well crafted lifeless document.

Non-productive Ministries

Holders of the following ministerial appointments simply occupied vacant seats nothing more, nothing less.

Ministry of Culture and Tourism and National Orientation:  Ministry of Land, Housing and Urban Development: Ministry of National Planning and so forth. Dead in reality but existed on paper!

Power and Energy

There is nothing really to say about electricity in Nigeria. It’s no longer news that power generation drops to 2000 megawatts lately.

And any attempt to ask appropriate quarters some troubling questions about epileptic power –you’ll hear: Privatisation, Gencos, Bedrock, Foundation, Discos, Fantastic Roadmap blah blah. Good Lord please save us from these grammars. From sickening 4800 megawatts to ……… Oh please!
